Hold on a second. Does this mean that .svn admin directories are
required to build Subversion now? I suppose tarball builds will have to
be changed not to use svnversion or something.

I have often built Subversion in a directory that has no .svn admin dirs
in it, but it's not the end of the world if a WC is needed or if there's
an easy way to avoid having to run svnversion during the build.

(Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? :)
