I like the idea, but are there any words we can use that are more
revealing than 'left' and 'right'? 'from' and 'to', 'base' and
'theirs'? Also, (this is a minor nit) I'd prefer to keep the same number of
.'s. So, perhaps filename.UUID.left-r182.
