weird javadoc problem

Anyone out there using subversion for java projects? I've noticed a
weird problem with javadoc, it seems to only find classes in the
topmost directory containing src files from my wc. The problem doesn't
occur if I 'svn export', so I'm assuming that javadoc is getting
tripped up over something in the .svn directories... almost certainly
javadoc is to blame, but has anyone figured out any way to work around
this?
