Let's stop and note that despite Ben's merging of the auto-vsn stuff into
the trunk, it was mostly done to ease maintenance. It still isn't a blocker
on a 1.0 release, so "big problem for auto-versioning" certainly doesn't
carry much weight. What if there *were* no auto-versioning whatsoever?
