The generalisms that you lament are not as empty as they seem, because
they are shorthand for rationales which have been presented in this
forum before -- e.g., the rationale that there are tons of developers
(such as myself) out there who really really want a better CVS, the
sooner the better, period. From what I understand, Subversion's
raison d'etre is to be that 'better CVS'. It may not be 'better-
enough' for you, but it's sure as heck good enough for me, and I
would jump for joy to see a stable 1.0 in three months.
