I'm certainly interested in any other conceptions of how to support
distributed repositories.

Repository revisions, and widening the NodeRevisionPK by a Repository PK
create a simple schema for handling mirroring and replication of data.

One alternate scheme for distributed repositories I've considered has
been only allowing Repository PKs as part of the merged ancestry set.

This approach doesn't necessarily make replication easy, but at least it
does make a disconnected approach very straight forward.
