I guess my original statement was a bit misleading. I just read it again:-)

Let me re-state:
I don't want to put test code in the API or the library. Only,
*PERHAPS* formally expose those portions of the library, which are not
intended for external use, to a TEST API to help identify them as test
aware. It was more of a food for thought sort of statement.
