I'm currently thinking of using post-commit since I
understand the CLI better than the API.

Someone had mentioned possibly using start- or
pre-commit to modify the transaction. If this is
possible, it would certainly resolve some of the other
problems I expect to encounter. OTOH, it would
require a steeper learning curve on my part.
