I agree. The only thing keeping subversion from being used extensively where I work is that you can't access it over NFS and they aren't going to install apache just for subversion. Without ra_local I wouldn't use it at all.

As for the file:// issue, its more annoying having to type the 3 slashes than it is typing 'file:'. I'd rather type something like local:/whatever/path/you/want but in the end I really don't care which it is... just don't take away ra_local :)
