+1 on all of that.

i would like to contribute more fixes to problems that i find, but
it's not a whole lot of fun going through code that feels sloppy, not
because of anything that's technically wrong with it, but just because
of formatting or policy issues, which is what these are.

maybe it's just that i'm spoiled by working on subversion, but it goes
a long way towards making someone want to spend time digging through
the code.
