i just deleted a long response that agreed with and expanded on
everything brian just said, because i don't feel that it would be a
productive exercise to debate why people choose to work on other,
similar projects on the subversion mailing list.

lets just leave it at this. i wish all the other projects the best,
but it does sadden me to think about all that we might have done
together, and it mystifies me why so many people have decided that it
is a better idea to be a competitor, friendly or otherwise, than to
contribute the work back to subversion.
