I would guess that people in one open-source project may get defensive
when talking about another open-source project that does the same thing,
due to the emotional attachment after working on one particular project
for a while and wanting that one project to be the best and most used.
There's also the possibility of loosing developers to the other project.

If something like this happened to my own project, I'm sure I would
be concerned.

Actually, that another thing that's impressed me about the svn group.
There haven't been any negative comments that I can recall about other
projects, such as Tom Lord's arch and opencm, which speaks highly about
the people involved.
