This doesn't really address the issue. It gives people a choice, yes,
but thus it forces them to either make a choice, or live with the
default... In which case our task is the same: to choose a good
default :-).

And as Greg Stein pointed out earlier:

I'll happily add "personal experience" to "quite a few studies".
