Subversion server

I want to install a subversion server for a group of developpers that
work all in a lan. My question is: what is the main problem in svn
performances ?? I probably need to buy a new maschine where to run
subversion and i don't know what is better pay for (ram, raid, double
processor, ecc...). Any suggestions ?? The lan is a 100Mbit network
so i think the main problem could be disk speed so the idea is to buy
a ide raid card (for don't spend too much).
