I understand what you changed in this patch, but it wont make any
difference checking for an error. I already know the answer you seek :)

wget --header="Accept-Encoding: gzip" pulls the content without error,
but the retrieved compressed data is corrupt the same way that it is
when pulled with the svn client. The only difference is that neon
complains about it now (which is always good I guess) with a truncated
compressed data message.
