The message is part of the script posted here to enable people to
quickly test whether their diff[3] has the bug. You run the script,
it shows you some diff3 output followed by the above paragraph.
By "the user obviously reversed the sense of this paragraph" you mean
that Johan Lindh didn't need to post his results? The script
explictly asks the user to mail if their platform exhibits the
newline-adding bug; but in the original post, I think we asked people
to mail either way.
