sussman's status

Just letting folks know: I'm now in the bug-hunting phase of the
humongous 'svn update uses diff3' change. The xml-tests now pass, but
our basic_tests.py #5 ("basic merge test") is failing. It's expecting
specific merged text, and the real-world results now have an extra
newline at the end! I wonder if diff3 is somehow causing that.
