If you're going to bring them back soonish and sort this out, that
seems fine. If you run out of time, just mention here, so someone
else will know to take over...

(Next time might be better to post the diff if you want to offer code
but don't have time to fully integrate it; but it looks like no great
damage was done here, since we can recover any of the history as
necessary, at any time.)
