I checked, and we now use the same connection throughout. My time also went
from 5m to 4m45s for a checkout, but that mostly all based on the keepalive
issue. A benchmark only run once, with as many factors as this one isn't a
very good baseline.

On the other hand, we might need a server tuning document somewhere (or in
INSTALL?) about stuff like MaxRequestsPerChild and MaxKeepAliveRequests.
