It's a good point, no need to don your asbestos suit.
But I'd like to second Philip's comments: the issue here isn't that
the changes aren't well thought-out, it's that people are expecting
consistent behavior on all supported platforms when they use APR, and
they're not getting it. Because they have no direct experience with
Windows, they don't have any reason to suspect that a given way of
doing things won't work on Windows. People -- and Philip in
particular -- *are* trying hard to see "the broad picture" here, but
one can't extrapolate broad pictures from a single data point. The
only solution is for Win32 developers to educate others, and send in
patches as often as possible.
Nothing more to say, as this thread went on to do exactly that. :-)
