Yeah, sounds like a possibility!

We've never had a good reproduction recipe for this, but I've filed

   http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=621

so as we gather more evidence, we have a place to accumulate it.
Following that code path manually may also tell us something; good
task to take up when have "just an hour" to do something...
