Getting *just* the diffs from a repository

Is there a way to get svn, or failing that, bdb, to dump just the diffs
between two versions? I want the actual diffs between files, not the
differing files, in whatever format, but possibly in whatever form they're
stored in the DB.

The reason why I'm asking is because I was thinking about how to do
incremental backups of the database. As I understand it, right now if you
back up the DB you get a snapshot of the state of the DB, whole hog. Anyway,
that's my rational for asking for the diffs.
