I did upgrade to libtool 1.4.2, no help. However, I built a version with
disable-shared and used that static version to update to 1072... everything
works ok now.
Now that you've identified the problem, is there any test you can add to
check for this particular error? It seems like it's broken a few times in
the past - it'd be nice to have a red flag pop up next time it happens to
break.
