Greg, just FYI: this writeup is not languishing, but still in
progress. As we were writing it, we started realizing a few important
things, and then realizing some more things, and... Well, you know how
these things go: being forced to articulate the plan in enough detail
to post to the list brought some issues out into the open that had
formerly been papered over.

This is a Good Thing, of course, but it means it's taking more time
than expected. Will post/commit as soon as can. Our intention is
*not* that the post, when it comes, will be the final word on the
matter, but merely that it be at least thorough enough to anticipate
any obvious questions & concerns. I don't want to waste the list's
time when I could waste just mine instead. :-)
