subversion ruby bindings

so i've been looking at the subversion ruby bindings, and i've got
some ideas to improve them (specifically i was going to try to make
the errors in svn_ruby_init_error dynamically generated, as opposed to
hardcoding them like we are now), but i don't see any way to build
them.

what does one have to do to compile/use these bindings? is a
development version of ruby required, or will 1.6.6 do?

inquiring minds want to know ;-)
