Garrett,

A change like this really needs regression tests added to the test
suite; can you please write those too? Your hand testing is great,
but it's not an automated regression test. :-)

By the way, no need to mime-attach your log message and patch, just
put them directly in the body of the message, it's easier that way. I
just committed some changes to HACKING about this.
