Another note from a lurker...

As a long time CVS user and multi-platform developer, I believe that
Subversion SHOULD perform newline conversion. While I don't like working on
non-*nix boxes, it is part of day to day business around here. The programs
that we use often do not handle Unix style EOL rules with any grace at all.
Our diffs and checkins would get very ugly without this feature.

We interested in moving from CVS to something like Subversion, for reasons
that have been stated on this list and in the design documents. But, we do
multi-platform work, and making that harder will make it harder for us to
switch.

Back to watching the argument with interest...
