As long as I can configure the various extensions that SHOULD have newline
conversions done to do it, I am happy. I think leaving newline conversions
completly out would be a disaster. I agree that binary mode should be the
default. Also, I want to be able to 'toggle' this at any time in case
somebody did the wrong thing for a particular file.
