FYI: Why I am interested in svn

We have tools built on top of SourceSafe that do the high-level
operations via the COM Automation interface. I want to add svn as
a repository underneath these tools.

As an aside we have:
        60 SourceSafe databases occupying 18GB
        980 Projects

As an example of the sort of things we do when we build a version of a project
we checkin the results of the build, the log of the build and the analysed
outcome of the build (errors and warnings). Later builds can then depend on
the results of earlier builds.

svn features that we would use are: binary file handling, meta data and
true client-server mode, smart merging.

The future svn feature that is very interest is the use of an SQL database
rather then db3.
