CVS gripes?

Greetings all...

In case you don't recall, I'm a friendly interloper on this list. I'm
the head of a group at IBM that is also trying to build a CVS
replacement. We originally called it Coven; then we switched to
Synedra; now we need to change again. (Synedra was a mis-conjugation of
an ancient greek word, which just happened to be the name of a harmless
bacteria from the same family as anthrax...) Details about what we're
doing can be found at our website, which is mentioned in my signature.

Anyway... We're working on open-sourcing our system. We've gotten the
system to the point where it's ready for an initial release. So now
we're working through the process of getting permission to open the
source, and continue development as an open-source project.

What would *really* help us is some testimonials of what's wrong with
CVS. We've been making the case about CVSs problems, but it would be
far more compelling to have a collection of descriptions of the problems
that people have had with CVS, and why they think it's worth building a
new system like Synedra or SubVersion to replace CVS for open-source
development.

If you can, please share your horror stories with me. Send 'em to
mcc@watson.ibm.com.

Thanks!
        -Mark Chu-Carroll
