project status page clarifies milestones

Just FYI: I've updated the project_status.html page, there's an
updated milestone map, basically the same as an email I posted a while
ago. May help folks understand how current work fits into the overall
"master plan". Such as it is. :-)

Also, have cleaned up the issues database a bit, merging duplicate
issues and closing a few resolved ones. Take a look, pick something
up if you're getting that itchy feeling...
