FW: db insanity. - libsvn_repos?

Is libsvn_repos related to the libdb-3.3.so issue? I'm running
a plain 7.1 Redhat system with no other applications.

After several clean compiles (and tests), both libmod_dav_svn.so and
libsvn_repos.so exist under svn and /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.3/lib
and repository ".libs"'s are pointed to via /etc/ld.so.conf.

No matter what I try I receive the error on libsvn_repos.so.0...

Syntax error on line 213 of /opt/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:

Cannot load /opt/httpd/modules/libmod_dav_svn.so into server:
cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory

OK, so here's the answer to my build problems.

The FreeBSD problem *did* turn out to be similar to the whole 'edit
/etc/ld.so.conf' issue, if one were using Linux.

The run-time linker only searches for library dependencies in paths
from a 'hints' file (/var/run/ld-elf.so.hints.*) created at boot time
by the /etc/rc script. The variable 'ldconfig_paths' defaults to a
very short list in /etc/defaults/rc.conf, and these are the paths
passed to 'ldconfig' at boot time. Luckily, this variable can be
overridden at boot-time (like all boot variables) by adding it to

Also, for immediate gratification, you can rebuild the ld hints file
(and append to it) like this:

  'ldconfig -R /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.3'

So, I learn something about BSD every day. :-)

The real issue is: I didn't intstall DB 3.3 from an official "port",
so perhaps that's why the installation path was never made known to
