I'm merely suggesting that, in a modern localizable system, we should
concentrate more on doing The Right Thing for the user based on their
specified locale, and forget about parsing "7" and 22/4/2001 (when that is
an invalid date in the locale). These should be flagged errors.

I'm actually thinking about writing some patches for this task, so this
opinion might find expression in code. =)

Can I find support on the list for the idea of making *locale* the
dominant means of deciphering potentially ambiguous date expressions?
