Noticed that. I have been thinking about pursuing one of three approaches.

1) Speaking to maintainers to see if I can fork a version for subversions use
under a different license.

2) Make a clean room implementation, based on the running code. (i.e. without
looking at source.)

3) Distributing patches.

My sincere hope is that 1 works out, but we will have to see. I haven't
decided between 2 and 3 yet.
