Hmmm. What is the nature of the problems?

Is the problem that Subversion is checking for 1.3.5 explicitly and
not finding it? Or is it that Subversion is blindly using libtool
without checking the version, and it turns out that 1.3.5 does
something in a way not compatible with 1.4?

If we could make Subversion compatible with *both*, that would be
ideal...
