version control of labels

I've noticed that subversion is planning to have lots of metadata
under version control. Today I was reading the marketing brochure for
AccuRev/CM and they talk about how labels are first class objects in
their system and under version control. They claim that this gives
their CM system a timesafe property that others lack.

I don't really follow many of the design discussions on subversion in
much detail so maybe this has already come up and been thought
about/decided on/whatever, but I thought I'd mention it as I found it
interesting.
