Introduction

My name is Deven T. Corzine, and I am a programmer living in Greenhills,
Ohio (a suburb of Cincinnati). I've used version control systems for many
years, first SCCS, then RCS and (when it became available) CVS. Since CVS
has been available, I've used RCS sometimes and CVS other times, depending
on the project and my mood. :-)

My interest in version control is simply that it's a valuable tool for both
software development and system administration. However, CVS has a number
of flaws, most of which are well-known. I'm particularly interested in
Subversion since it appears to be aimed at fixing most or all of the flaws
in CVS, and the project looks pretty promising so far.

As for the level of effort I expect to invest in the Subversion project,
that's a complete mystery to me. I have many time constraints and MANY
competing demands on my time. Joining these lists may well be an exercise
in wishful thinking on my part; I may end up mostly lurking, or even losing
track entirely of what's going on if I can't keep up with reading the lists
in the first place. Basically, I'm not making any promises right now.

That being said, I am a skilled and efficient programmer, and if something
happens to catch my attention or pique my interest, it's entirely possible
that I'll write and contribute something valuable. It's just that I don't
want to set up any overly optimistic expectations, given the other demands
on my time. I'd like to do some work on this project, but I have higher
priorities that will normally predominate.

So, I'm going to take a wait-and-see attitude. Joining these lists is an
indication of my desire to contribute to the project, but the reality is
that I don't know if that desire will translate into results or not. I'll
just have to hope that it will, but don't be surprised if it doesn't! :-)
