Ah, I can answer that one. the gettext /package/ is GPL. However, glibc,
which includes gettext, is LGPL. If you pick gettext out of the glibc
sources, you can use that under the LGPL licence. I believe that's what
KDE does, for instance. So in fact gettext is available with both
licences,
you just have to do some more work to use the LGPL version ...
