Well, I think the extra unwrapping complexity of generating
hierarchical deltas is high enough that I could probably write and
test a generator and parser for a non-hierarchical format in about the
same amount of time as I could write and test a generator for the
hierarchical format. In both cases, I would expect it to be done
around the end of tomorrow.

But I'm sensing enough resistance that I will back off and finish the
hierarchical XML generator. I'm just kind of disappointed, because I
think that it's the wrong direction and that that work will have to be
thrown out later. But I understand that everyone would have to think
about the problem to the same extent I have in order to buy in or
point out problems, and they have other things to work on.
