Massive testsuite failures on Windows when compiled with MinGW

tests.log and the patches i've used are attached.
 From the looks of it a lot of failures are somewhat superficial - '\\'
and '/' mismatch. I don't think that just fixing test expectations is
the right way to correct these, maybe there is something within svn that
can be changed?
