Oh, you can *use* them, much as you can use many complex features of
Subversion configurations. But don't expect features that rely on
non-standard components, such as a local Perl or bash for pre-commit
operatons, to operate with other people's environments.

For email, as for Subversion, keeping it as simple and using only the
documented components has a lot to be said for it. That's why my email
is text, 8-bit clean, rather than UTF or HTML based.
