RE: Moving from "Merant Version Manager" to Subversion

VisualSVN has a "professional" server which adds some extra features
(apparently a pretty GUI for remote administration.) Otherwise you can
just get a standard version for free.

http://www.visualsvn.com/server/licensing/

Of course if you are installing on Linux you can either use the
distro-provided packages, or obtain them from a third party. Or compile
them, which is very painless. In any case, all of this is free.

Note this is purely the _server_ side. VisualSVN has their client which
integrates with Visual Studio, which works quite well but is around $40.
You can also just use TortoiseSVN (free, and is what I use) if on Windows,
or the command line client. Eclipse integrates nicely through it's
subclipse plugin (also free.)

For command line windows clients, you can either download the "official"
packages from Collabnet (free, registration required) or grab them from
SlickSvn's website.
