Very interestingly, a freshly checked out WC with 1.4.4 is 2.5Gb, while the existing one is 3.4Gb. So it seems the saving is not due to the upgrade but the fact that the WC is a new one. Now, why the difference anyway?

There are no ignored files (svn st --no-ignore returned nothing) and the WC is up-to-date apart from 8 files which total a staggering 2Kb. *___* The WC is at mixed revision due to the fact that each version of the application is updated only when there are changes, but that should not matter, as long as there aren't any changes.

The only reason I can think of is that Subversion is not very good at de-cluttering the WC, at least not 1.4.4. The WC was initially created with an older version of Subversion, mabye even some 1.1.?. I don't think it has ever been recreated, so during the years some (harmless) rubbish must have been left behind. Do you have suggestions on how I can go about to find out what? Any other ideas that would explain the 1Gb extra space I currently use in the WC?

Thanks
Giulio
