That probably was it. I uninstalled 1.6.3(although he asked me if I wanted
to uninstall 1.6.1) and reinstalled it.
No problems now.
Just a general question about upgrading: Am I supposed to uninstall the
old version first? Then it would not really be an upgrade anymore. I think
I remember reading somewhere that you could just install the new version
above the old one or am I getting mixed up here with TSVN?
