Question of branching external svn repo

Hi, i wonder if there is a approach to brach an external subversion repo
?

My case is this that i have my own development svn repository and i want
to create a branch
of another projects trunk as the base of my own project so i can work as
i usally do, till now i
just made an checkout of the main project and worked on the files while
i contributes patches for
my changes, but now we are expanding in a team and want o work on out
own repo.

I though that i could make an copy of the main source to my own svn but
that makes it external and i cant add it into my own trunk..

/Henrik
