Svn metadata corruption

Note: This problem seems to crop up with some regularity

Scenario:
+++++++++

I check out some code under /tmp/xxx

A few days later I come back and try a "svn update" and I get this error -->>

/tmp$ svn up
svn: Can't open 'feedserver/edge_mapping/.svn/tmp/patch_user_action_publish.tmp': No such file or directory

This has happened several times. I am currently on svn 1.5.3 working on a linux box [ FC4].

How can I fix this without having to do a fresh checkout?
