Sounds like it addresses your issue.

Don't move them to SVN and give them a bad impression of it right off.
Set up your server on server hardware (or a VM), running a server OS
(Windows 200x Server or a *NIX). Don't serve 250 users off WinXP which
is presumably on desktop-grade hardware.
