If you use the SvnAnt task (http://subclipse.tigris.org) to interact
with Subversion through Ant, can't you use javahl to avoid a full
Subversion install? I thought I remembered hearing that, but I've
always had a svn client installed for other reasons so I've never had
occasion to put my memory to the test.
