It's funny how it does not make sense to me why "-r" needs to _not_
work for this purpose, yet it does make sense that this syntaxt
avoids ambiguities because the '@' means basically "the object at
this revision".

So why can it not work using "-r" as long as there are no ambiguities
detected?
