problems with webdav COPY over https

hi folks. i'm having problems with my svn server running via apache 2 over
https. i can't do copy operations because of 502 bad gateway. from my
research, i'm pretty sure that some layer of my setup is trying to copy a
https url to a http url. i'm not sure where this could be. the server only
responds to https requests.

it's not an issue of url scheme or domain being changed. all other
operations work.
